My name is Shavaun and I am a 500-hour certified yoga instructor and sound healing practitioner. My yoga journey began in 2012 with Anacostia Yogi, a small group yoga class in my Washington, DC neighborhood. After sharing practice together, students shared conversation and a vegetarian meal together, helping me see the possibilities for creating community around the mat. I returned to my hometown of Louisville, KY and in 2017 completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program at Eternal Health Yoga. I soon began teaching yoga to my family, friends, and neighbors, reminding me of yoga’s powerful healing and community-building possibilities. In 2023 and 2024, I continued my yoga journey by completing a 300-hour teacher training program with I Am Yoga and expanding into sound healing techniques with The Inner Warrior and Mind Body Music Center. I now incorporate the sounds of crystal bowls, chimes, and other healing instruments into my offerings. I am a co-owner of Under the North Star Yoga & Care Studio in Louisville’s West End, and host community classes for grassroots organizations.
